on January 5, 2013, a cat was caught trying to walk into prison gates in north east Brazil. it had a cell phone, cell phone charger, memory card, ear piece, mini saw, drills, and batteries taped to its back. all 263 detainees are considered suspects. they haven't found out who taped these things to the cat.
The deforestation of the Amazon rain forest is devastating the environment. It is destroying numerous species that are important to the economy and ecosystems of Brazil.

Poverty is widespread,and there is about 30% of poor people spread vastly around South America. This population affects the other non-poor people which are 51%. A majority of the poor are farmers, but they dont have much land to farm on.

there was nightclub in Santa Maria that had a fire. police estimated that 232 people died in this fire. the fire was supposedly started by a firework or flare lit by one of the band members playing there that night. many of the people there died by inhaling toxic fumes while rushing to escape through the club's only exit.
