    The beauty, excitement, and economic health of Rio and Sao Paulo attract rural Brazilians looking for a better lif. Uneducated and without job experience, most people end up in favelos.

  2. Sec 1 question 3- The Guianas are known for fishing, sugar cane, rice, and bauxite. Venezuela is known for its oil. Colombia is very popular for its famous coffee. Although it is illegal, Colombians also profit from cocaine and marijuana drug trades.

  3. section 1 assessment redo question 3- a. Oil is a big economic activity in Venezuela. Also Venezuela has bauxite and iron mines, building power plants, and setting up factories that will provide jobs when oil runs dry. b. In the Western Hemisphere's has a big oil and gas production.

  4. In the Guianas the ethnic makeup is similar to Suriname. The only thing different about its ethnic groups is that in Suriname there is only 30% of mulattoes, but in Guianas they are the largest group. Also Europeans broughts Africans over to work on plantations so there is a lot of african descent there. Asians migrated from there home to become workers here when slivered ended, so in today's time these two major groups are present

    2. Europeans brought Africans to work as slaves on colonial sugar plantations. Asians from china, India, and southwest Asia began migrating to the area as workers, in the mid- 1800's, after slavery was abolished.

    If nature changes in climate,natural hazard will occure.Like if a crops normal climate changes the crop will not adapt to those changes and will die.

    Colombias main crop/export is coffee and it is the crop most farmers depend heavily on.Venezuela mainly exports oil and petroleum, and Guianas mainly export sugar cane and rice. The main difference is that Colombia relies on one single crop and the others depend on many.

    If they depend on only one crop, then if the climate changes or if there are natural hazards, the crop could not grow, or the crop could wither and die, and if the economy depends on that one crop then the economy could collapse and poverty would happen.

    If you have a one crop that your economy depend on and there is a climate change or a natural hazzard the plant would not be able to survive and if the whole economy depends on the crop the economy would fall into poverty.

    English, French, and Dutch settlers arrived from Europe, bringing with them African slaves to work on the plantations. Later, people came in search of work from China, India, and Southeast Asia!

  13. Europeans brought Africans over as slaves to work on sugar plantations. Then, around the time slavery was abolished, in the mid-1800s, many Far Eastern Asians migrated to the Guianas. The mix of European and African descents became mulattoes. About half and half of Guyana's population is Asian and African Suriname's population is more varied, with 50% being Asian, 10% African, 30% mulattoes, and the rest indigenous Indians. In French Guiana, mulattoes are the largest group, and there are also many Europeans.

    Colombia and the Guianas mostly export crops. Venezuela on the other hand exports oils. Colombia is famous for its exporting of coffee. The Guianas are known for growing an abundance of sugar cane and rice. Venezuela exports and wealth comes from the oil resources like petroleum.

    If a change in climate or a natural hazard were to occur, a plants soil would be strongly affected. Depending on one plant can be very serious. If soil or growing conditions were to change a plant might not be able to grow. When a place relies on one product to benefit from and it will not grow the economy and structure of the area will fall.

    The Guianas have many differnt ethnic groups. THe Europeans migrated there to make colonies and they brought africans to work as slaves on farms.Then slavery was abolished and the asains from China and Indian came to be workers.

  17. Chapter 13 Section 1 Assessment Question 4 If they depend on one crop and the climate changes, then they would not be able to grow that crop. They will not be able to trade or keep the crop to themselves because of the harsh climate changes or the natural hazards. There economy would collapse and they would have to try to find another crop they can grow that can withstand the climate changes.

    4. Colombia's main exports include petroleum, coal, coffee and other agricultural produce, and gold. Venezuela exports rice, corn, fish, tropical fruit, coffee, beef, and pork. Bauxite and alumina are currently the only major exports in Guinea. So basically, Venezuela exports more food where as Colombia ships out more things to help our environment working such as coal.

    COlombia has one major export, coffee. Venezuela and the guianas export amny different things such as petroleum, oil, and sugar cane. So the main difference is that COlombia has one major export and venezeula and the Guianas have many. :)

    If that crop can't survive in the cold it will die in the winter and they will have no money and no crops.
